I liked that the author began the book by giving reasons why whelping might not be a good idea if you are unprepared. I fully agree with her stance that there are very few good reasons to breed and that there are already too many homeless dogs in shelters.

Explained in easy to understand terms, the book begins with stud dog selection and includes sections on the pregnancy and birth with step by step instructions. There is helpful information to help find the puppies the best homes possible and the book includes a section on tips for helping to train a new puppy.
